Born on Dec. 11, 1983, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Christopher Jamel Gaines is a talented Hip Hop/Rap artist known for his well-rounded concepts, unique production, and timeless delivery. Young, he started to come to grips with the complexities of modern rap when he discovered a strong interest in the skill of turning “freestyles” into records that resonated among his peers. The year was “95” inspired by the late great Notorious (B.I.G). Better known professionally as Lhagic (Pronounced Logic), a moniker he received freshmen year of High school. Now leading us to fast forward to the present day, Lhagic has grown handsomely into a successful independent recording artist, writer, entertainer, & producer. Surmounting his very own personal obstacles, he focuses on ownership dedicated to inspiring others to pursue their goals as he has while setting the bar high for today, and tomorrows future Hip Hop alum.
Lhagic is the founder/C.E.O at FamElite Asafo, a creative media outlet dedicated to educating today’s African youth through Performance Arts and Technology. His company, FamElite Asafo, recently acquired a new distribution deal through Chris Gotti’s Add Ventures Music, surprisingly the first black-owned distribution company in Hip Hop. His recording career began in 1995, since then he has sold thousands of CD's grinding his way to defining his own legacy. With an affinity for dope vibrations through mediums such as music and the spoken/written word. He has since gained invaluable experience performing at various events and has done shows with other well-known artists including the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Rich Homie Quan, and Mac Miller. Accomplishing all this without the music industry push of a corporate machine backing his brand.
As from the start 100% independent releasing his first album in 2009 “Incredible Lhag,” To which he followed up with a few more projects inclusive of Legendary Lhag in 2010, I Am the Throne in 2011, Zulu Blood in 2012, The Cartouche In 2018 and Triple L’s in 2014 Re-released in 2019. He has been co-signed by the likes of such legendary Hip Hop greats as D.M.C., Chuck D, Eric Sermon, and Lord Jamar. His music is appreciated for its raw honesty, and conceptual depth as he raps about real-life situations from a unique perspective only an Afrikan/West Indian, Born into the American diaspora can articulate with such power, prowess, and whit. His captivating, high-energy performances transport audiences as he professionally blends self- composed monsterpieces over hypnotic Mid-West /East Coast boom-bap, caressing their baselines before undressing the listener’s ears with his unique individual perspectives.
A king to his Queen and a father of three children, what makes Lhagic unique is his diverse and creative approach to doing what he loves best. Lhagic takes pride in his passion for writing and articulating his pain, joy, and wisdom through music, unapologetically uplifting the culture as a whole. With a sound in a similar vein to the J Cole's of today, Kendrick Lamar, KRS-One or even a young Nas, Lhagic brings something nostalgic, yet phresh and quintessential to the genre.
